
SVPT Director Posting
Formed in November 2007, Social Venture Partners Toronto (SVPT) is a unique partnership that brings together a broad group of professionals to invest time and money in the most pressing challenges facing the city. It is based on a proven "venture partnership" model that has attracted more than 2,000 partners in 20 cities across North America. The partners believe that by pooling their money, time and expertise, they can maximize their positive impact on Toronto.
SVPT is a fund at Tides Canada Foundation and a chapter of Social Venture Partners International.
The successful candidate in this newly created position will:
- Be passionate about SVP's vision of bringing together a broad group of professionals to invest money, time and expertise in the most pressing challenges facing our city.
- Have compassion for the city of Toronto and assist in expanding our positive impact in the community
- Have experience in the not for profit sector
- Be able to think strategically and work in a collaborative manner
- Be self-directed and able to handle multiple tasks at one time
- Be flexible in supporting SVPT during its start-up phase
- Be able to balance time between SVPT's two primary needs: support for its recruiting activities and overall general management
Responsibilities:
- Support recruitment efforts through targeted networks of existing Partners, strategic outreach to organizations and associations in the community.
- Manage recruitment tactical efforts (prospect follow up and tracking)
- Increase SVPT's visibility in the community in order to grow our supporter base, recruitment efforts and our offering to potential not for profit candidates
- Assist with the execution of recruiting events
- Seek out and close on opportunities for operational funding from non-partner sources.
- Solicit event sponsorship, including in-kind contributions. In addition to supporting Partner recruiting and retention, an equally important role for the Director is to work alongside the Leadership Committee on the following aspects of general management:
- Build organizational capacity that will support SVPT operations and offer organizational event support
- Develop and maintain an annual organizational plan
- Develop and maintain a database and other applications for information tracking. Specifically, track SVPT's impact through tracking our value with our not for profit investments, our education programs, and community awareness
- Liase with SVPT's agencies and promote volunteer opportunities to partners
- Participate in SVPT's Investment process by working with the Investment Committee and providing support to partners
- Assist in development and liase with Advisory Committee
- Develop, distribute communications, and supervise website content
- Maintain relationships with North American SVP network
- Plan and execute twice-yearly SVPT partnership meetings
Qualifications:
- University degree, graduate degree an asset
- Five to seven years work experience including management experience in program management and/or business development and/or fundraising
- High level of written and verbal communications skills
